I Have Been Brought Back To Life
My name is Henrietta PEREZ (65)
In April of 2018, after having had poorly preformed prosthetic surgery on my knee, I had six different medical consultations to see if it were possible to repair the damage. Three of the doctors had the opinion that the original surgery had been performed correctly and nothing need to be done. The other three surgeons told me that, although the surgery had not been performed correctly, there was no way to repair the damage.
I did not give up and that is when found the amazing Dr. William A. Leone. He confirmed that not only was corrective surgery of my knee necessary, but that it was also feasible.
Dr. Leone performed the surgery on 21 October, 2019 and it has had spectacular results. Thanks to the medical team at Holy Cross Hospital and amazing postoperative care, I have been brought back to life. The total prosthesis had to be removed and replaced with a new one of the proper shape and size. The new prosthesis both lengthened and straightened my leg so that it matches my other leg.
I will still have to deal with the aching in my spine for a while and the slowly fading pain in my hip from my limp before the surgery. Before having this corrective surgery, I was at the lowest point in my life and consumed by depression feeling like life was not worth living. That has all changed now and thanks to you all at Holy Cross Hospital I not only live, but I will live with the freedom of being able to walk again with good movement. Thanks again, especially Dr. William A. Leone.
