“Thanks for taking such good care of my knee.” That’s what I told Dr. Leone on my final visit with him for my knee. My journey started in early 2017 when I fell and broke my kneecap. That was a wow. I was walking across a parking lot and slipped on a wet leaf and my right knee took the brunt of the fall. Dr. Leone put my knee back together. At the time this is happening, you honestly cannot believe your knee will ever function the same again. It took me four months of physical therapy to be able to flex my knee enough to pedal a bike. But I got there and was back to normal — working out and running 5Ks. At the time, Dr. Leone’s wonderful staff mentioned that at some point I may opt to have the hardware removed, which held the two pieces of kneecap together, particularly if it began bothering me. I didn’t think too much about it, but two and half years later, it was getting painful for me to kneel, because the hardware was right at the surface of my knee. So, once again, Dr. Leone performed a perfect surgery to remove it. The recovery was a piece of cake and I was back to my Peloton and normal activities within a week. I cannot thank Dr. Leone and his staff enough for their care and for giving me back my normal life pain-free. They are the best!
