I really believe the method that Dr. Leone used and the precision of my surgery is the reason I am pain free.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Dr. Leone and his wonderful staff for giving me another chance to fully enjoy my active life.

At the age of 54, I began having lower back pain which eventually radiated through my left hip and down my leg. Over a period of several months the pain became debilitating. It was difficult to exit a car, or to walk short distances without having to stop and rest due to the pain.

I saw a neurosurgeon who indicated that spine surgery was the only option, however, he didn’t think it was worth the risk and offered pain management. He also indicated the hip pain was a direct result of aggravated sciatic nerves. After getting a second opinion, the surgeon recommended a series of epidural injections into my lower back. After three separate injections, the pain continued in my lower back and began to increase in my hip joint. This neurosurgeon recommended I see a hip specialist prior to scheduling back surgery just to be on the safe side.

It just so happened that my coworker recently had a total hip replacement and highly recommended that I see Dr. Leone and thank God I did!

Dr. Leone’s staff was extremely kind, helpful and promptly set up an appointment. Dr. Leone reviewed my x-rays and very definitively informed me my back pain was caused by the hip joint which was bone on bone. Shortly after, surgery on my left hip was scheduled.

Amazingly, just hours after surgery I was walking, with assistance, around the hospital. The recovery was very quick and fairly painless. It’s been 1 year since my surgery and I am fully back in the gym and virtually pain free, as if I never had a hip or lower back problem. It’s amazing to think that only one year ago, I could barely get out of a car or walk around the block.

I really believe the method that Dr. Leone used and the precision of my surgery is the reason I am pain free. I hope my right hip last but if not, I will be back to see Dr. Leone.
