“My Hip is Killing Me”
Hip pain is a common problem with many potential causes. Pain may be caused by problems with your hip joint, the muscles that support your hip joint, and/or diseases and conditions in other areas of your body. Many times, hip pain can be controlled with medication and physical therapy. For many people, though, pain may become chronic and disabling.
The most common cause of chronic hip pain and disability is arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and traumatic arthritis.
Normally, all parts of your hip work in harmony, allowing you to move easily and without pain.
Arthritis causes the cartilage that normally cushions the hip bones to become inflamed, wear away, or break, causing pain and stiffness.

At The Leone Center for Orthopedic Care, we specialize in treating hip joint destruction due to arthritis. Many of our patients who were sidelined from the tennis court or golf course because of hip pain are now back in the game! Watch a video of Dr. Leone explaining causes for hip pain. For information on Posterior or Anterior Total Hip Replacement Surgery we invite you to read his current blog.
In addition as of 2020 only Dr. Leone is using the latest hip technique called the SPAIRE technique where patients no longer have hip precautions after surgery. For details please read his blog on this technique.
