Two years ago I had a total hip replacement in New York City. The procedure was done with the anterior approach. I was told that this was the way to go, that recovery was much shorter and that there were no restrictions. Wrong! I could not put any weight on my leg for at least three weeks, was in pain and was still using a cane after two months. I have a scar that is indented and I have numbness on my thigh which has not diminished at all over the past two years.

So now let me tell you about my left hip replacement with Dr. Leone. I had the posterior approach procedure five weeks ago and from the first day I could put weight on my leg and had minimal pain. Within one week, I was walking without a cane and no longer needed any medication. I had range of motion in my hip and it felt natural and not like an artificial part. By the time I had the stitches out after two weeks I felt like my old self again.

Dr. Leone is the most caring doctor I have ever met. He has the Midas touch. Because he is so concerned about the soft tissue pain is at a minimum and the recovery is rapid.

Having had procedures at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Hospital for Joint Diseases, I can honestly say that Dr. Leone, his staff and Holy Cross Hospital far exceeded my expectations in care.
