1. Staying in shape and facing the best competitors in the world takes its toll on the body at any age. So if you think only elderly people need hip or knee replacements, guess again. This legendary golfer underwent knee replacement surgery a week after winning the 2008 U.S Open at the age of 33. He has won 15 major golf tournaments and is considered by some to be the greatest golfer ever.

2.  This actress, activist and queen of DVD fitness programs is still landing leading roles and supporting the causes she cares about at the age of 87. She underwent a total knee replacement at the age of 71, following a double hip replacement. The co-star of Grace and Frankie stays fit and active by exercising every day.

3.  The “Piano Man” is still rocking at 75 but the years of touring and jumping around on stage caused constant pain and resulted in a double hip replacement.

4 & 5. Both the matriarch and patriarch of this esteemed American political family underwent hip replacement surgery, the former First Lady at the age of 72 and the former President at the age of 76. He also had a partial knee replacement. An avid skydiver, he took his final jump on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

6.  This amazing singer and songwriter is best known for timeless hits like “Georgia on My Mind” and “Hit the Road Jack,” but did you know that he had a total hip replacement at the age of 73?

7.  Was it dancing too much on the ceiling that wore out this hitmaker’s hip? He was 61 when he had it replaced, enabling him to continue drawing crowds of fans around the world.

8.  This comedian is best known as Michael Scott, the goofy boss at the Dunder Mifflin paper company on The Office. At the age of 51 he had a total hip replacement.

9.  He said, “I’ll be back” and he meant it. This actor and former California governor, known as the Terminator, filmed the third movie in the series shortly after undergoing hip surgery at the age of 55.

10.  A star in the golden age of Hollywood movies and winner of Oscars for Butterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf, this actress was known for her unforgettable roles, violet eyes, friendship with Michael Jackson and many husbands. She did everything in a big way, including having three total hip replacement surgeries.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Shaquille O’Neal had hip replacement surgery, as did Alec Baldwin and Michael Douglas. Oprah Winfrey had two knee replacements, and the list goes on. Countless celebrities, including athletes, rock stars, movie stars and presidents have gotten a new lease on life through knee and hip replacement surgery and so can you.
