Dear Dr. Leone,
October 18, 2010
Thank You for relieving my pain and giving me back my professional & personal life!
I highly recommend Dr. Leone and his team to anyone with debilitating hip or knee pain that wants their life back.
I’ve been a Physical Therapist Assistant for over 20 yrs in all facets of rehab including sports medicine, acute care & traditional home care. I now supervise over 30 therapists in Broward and Palm Beach Counties in 11 Senior Living Communities providing Home Care & Outpatient Rehab. Until my mid 30’s I regularly played softball and basketball in men’s leagues and coached my kids in all of their sports. I had to stop all of these activities “cold” because I developed intractable pain in my left hip and groin.
When I first started seeing orthopedists for my pain; and they were numerous, they told me to “come back when your 50 and I’ll replace it.” Please remember, I was in my mid 30’s. I was diagnosed with acetabular spurs and a torn labrum. Being a therapist I tried to treat myself to control my pain symptoms. I also used any connections I had to see the “right doctors.” During those years that I was actively treating patients, I cared for many who had been operated on by Dr. Leone and consistently they had great outcomes. At this point I still did not allow myself to believe that I was ready, at 43 year old. to have a hip replacement. In 2007 I had my first of two arthroscopic surgeries to remove loose bodies & trim the labrum; I got almost 1 year of relief. In March 2010 I had my 2nd arthroscopic surgery and got zero relief. I actually became more debilitated and depressed.
In July 2010 I had my first visit with Dr. Leone; in that visit he changed my life! Dr. Leone not only saw all the damage that had been done to my hip, but the damage my hip had done to my life. He told me he could do a total hip replacement, get me back to work quickly and give me back my life. I live for my kids, to go boating, fishing, diving and golfing.
On August 23rd 2010, and 46 years old, I had my left hip replaced at Holy Cross Hospital by Dr. Leone. Dr. Leone is known through out the industry for state of the art procedures he performs and outcomes are “off the charts.” As a professional in this field I know how important it is to avoid complications. I also know that it’s critical that your physician is proficient at what he & his team does as well as how important the post-op rehab is. I’ve observed many surgeries over the years so I knew too well of what my body was about to go through. Dr. Leone, his team, the nursing & rehab staffs were outrageous! In 3 nights & 4 days I was discharged home walking with crutches with only surgical soreness; NO MORE pain in my hip. Again, with my knowledge I knew how important it was to make sure I did my therapy to reach my goal of getting back to work in 2 weeks. I went to one of my outpatient clinics everyday for the first 2 weeks. I also walked for miles, everyday, on all different surfaces. I returned to work at full duty 16 days after surgery without any assistive device. I thank Dr. Leone and his team. I’ve also started an aquatic exercise program and I’m again swimming laps in my pool.
I’m just 7 weeks post-op and I’m completely pain free, working fulltime, riding my stationary bike 5 miles per day, swimming and exercising daily for the first time in years. And I’ve already played 3 rounds of golf without any pain!
Thank you Dr. Leone and your wonderful team.
